The Norsemen of the Rockies is a membership based organization created to preserve and perpetuate Norwegian traditions, culture, and customs. Originally started on April 14, 1944, in the middle of World War II, the Norsemen of the Rockies began as a relief organization in support of Norway, which had been taken over by Germany. The organization continues to observe Leif Erikson Day (October 9th) and Norwegian Independence Day (May 17th), while also promoting social and recreational activities among its members, including charitable enterprise.
